Travel
There are two ways to get to Bacalar:
The first is fly to Chetumal Airport, which is about a 40 min drive from Bacalar. There are flights to Chetumal from Mexico City. From the airport, you can easily get a taxi to your hotel in Bacalar.
The second is to fly to Cancún International Airport, which is a 4 hour drive from Bacalar. From the airport, you can arrange to be picked up or rent a car to get to Bacalar.

Hotels
There are many places to stay in Bacalar, including hotels and rental properties (Airbnb). It is very easy to find cheap taxis to get from place to place, and our support team can also help you arrange transportation if needed.

Bacalar is a lagoon on the Mexican Caribbean coast. While it remains somewhat off the tourist circuit, there are many tourist destinations in the area that you can visit, including Cancún, Chichén Itzá (large Mayan archaeological site), Mérida (colonial city, capital of Yucatán state), Tulum (coastal town with Mayan archaological site and nightlife), and Mahahual (small fishing town along Caribbean coast), among many others.
